D.J. Misery
"Prodigy in the Making

The world has seen so many entertainers in this lifetime.  It's hard to distinguish those who will last an eternity and those who will perish in this Hip-Hop era.  That's what this D.J. (Disk jockey) has been wondering since he has got into this lifestyle.  Knowing the best thing for a D.J. is being able to control the crowd on any song.  When you flip the music off for a second and suddenly the crowd has taken over the verse of the song, then you know you have crowd participation.  Then you know that you have control.  But with all the dangers of being a mobile disc jockey on the streets, is it worth going through the parties ending in fights?  Or the worries of someone stealing your records and equipment?
Born in East New York, Brooklyn, Sharrod, 22, started his love for Hip-hop listening to his brothers tapes from the Marly Marl show on WBLS.  Remembering the first song he ever learned which was, "Ladi Dodi" by Slick Rick.  Trying to scratch on his brothers turntable/radio/cassette players hoping he would sound like icons, Clark Kent or Red Alert.  Sharrod started djing when he was 12 years old, sneaking on the turntables while his brothers where attending school.  He learned a lot of tricks from his brother, DJ 1-n-2, finally able to do a party alone by the age of 14.  He was a fortunate DJ who never had to buy equipment and records because he always had access to them.  He finally got the name Step-1ne for a year or two, which had derived from when he was dancing.  He later changed it to "Misery" after the movie title.  In high school he used to sell tapes for $5 dollars a piece.  Not really for money, but for promotional reasons.  Later on he hooked up with other DJ's, 1-n-2, Joel-T, Todd Luv, to form the well-known group "Jam Kam Entertainment".  As a group they were able to become more successful on the streets.  Adding on a new member, Black Crystal, Jam Kam Ent. is hoping to make it big.  Misery, being the prodigy of his older brother is still trying to answer that question.
